Our finest quality Orgainic meat products are used to prepare many of the recipies at the Stag Inn in the village of Rackenford.

Recorded as the oldest public house in Devon, dating back to the end of the 12th century.

This wonderful thatched pub is a great place to relax and sample the delicious organic fayre of West Yeo Farm.

We have a wide selection of stock and have vast experience.

Our finest quality organic livestock are raised with care and expertise which we have gained through many years of experience.

Cattle...
We breed Red Ruby Devon cattle here at West Yeo Farm. In 2004 both the Langworthy Moor herd and the Red Down herds where combined here at West Yeo. We breed dark, strong, old fashioned cattle of the traditional type. We do not cross breed with Red Polled or Saler cattle which is a modern trend.

During the summer months the cattle graze the Culm Grassland which is the tradition, they eat nettles, willows and rushes, giving tem all the herbs and minerals required to suckle their calves. In the autumn all cattle graze turnips, kale and are housed at Christmas in the old linhays with yards. They have a varied diet of peas, barley and haylege. In spring it is calving time again!

Sheep...
Sheep-Rare breed & endangered Leicester Longwools make up most of the flock, with some Wensleydales. Their high quality, soft, lustre longwool provides fibre for the organic textiles. The lambs are sold for breeding or delicious lean meat and hides for rugs.

Pigs...
We had always liked the look of Oxford, Sandy and Black pigs but had to travel to Dorset to find some organic ones. Having got started with some 'weaners' we were quickly smitten by both their characters and the excellent flavour of the products.

They are old fashioned rare pigs from the Oxford area called "Plum Pudding" pigs because they are ginger with black spots. They live in one of the three new orchards and have a very busy time rooting for acorns, apples and hazelnuts. We love having the pigs on the farm, they are very intelligent responsive animals.

Poultry....
We have always had Welsummer hens free ranging and fed mixed corn, so it seemed sensible to get this production certified by the Soil Association. So in 2005 eggs were added to our list of products.

Due to demand we have now started real organic table birds that have come from organic chicks. The Sasso birds are hatched in Cambridgeshire and originate from France.

We also rear small flocks of Barbary ducks and Embden geese which are a welcome addition here on the farm and add to our range of quality produce.
